Instagram DM Automation for Coaches and Course Creators

A Reel earns the question. A comment asks for the next step. A private DM can deliver the lesson, calendar, or waitlist the person came for.

The short answer

A person watches a short lesson and wants to try the full exercise. Or they want to know whether you have an opening next month. They should not have to search your bio and guess which link belongs to that Reel. A clear invitation keeps the answer attached to the post that made them interested.

What should you offer?

Decide what the person should receive before choosing the word they comment. A sample lesson is useful after a teaching Reel. A calendar is useful after you mention one-to-one sessions. A waitlist makes sense when a cohort is not open yet.

The small promise needs to be real. If the post invites someone to get a free lesson, have that lesson ready to open. If it invites them to book, send a calendar or an enquiry page that tells them what happens next.

Which word should you use?

What the post offersA word to commentWhat the DM delivers
A free sample classLESSONThe sample class page or video
A planning worksheetGUIDEThe worksheet or its download page
A discovery call or sessionBOOKINGThe calendar for that conversation
The next group programmeWAITLISTThe page where they can join the waitlist

Use one word for one outcome. Uppercase only makes the examples easier to read; lesson works like LESSON. If two offers need different destinations, make two clear invitations instead of asking a person to guess which one they will receive.

A sample lesson in practice

A Pilates coach posts a short Reel about a warm-up that helps clients begin a home session. The caption says, “Comment LESSON and I'll send the full 10-minute practice.” A person comments LESSON, then receives the practice in a private DM.

A coach offers a sample class in a Reel. Sam comments LESSON and receives the sample-class link in a private DM. The creator can also leave a public reply confirming the DM was sent.

The optional public reply simply helps people notice the DM. The private message has one job: give them the class the caption promised.

How do you keep the promise intact?

A comment is a request for the offer a person saw. Do not use a free-class invitation to send an unexpected checkout page, and do not add a second pitch because the DM has their attention. The first message should make the person feel that the post and the DM belong together.

Someone may reply with a real question about dates, access, or price. That is the point to take over the Instagram conversation as a human.

Set up your first invitation

Start with a post you already know how to explain: one asset, one word, and one destination that works on a phone. ChatPanda needs an Instagram Professional account, either Business or Creator. Then choose the post or Reel, add the word people will comment, and write the DM that fulfils the invitation.

Common questions

Do I need a business account, or does a creator account work?

Either one works. ChatPanda needs an Instagram Professional account, and Business and Creator both count. Instagram describes Business as a fit for shops and service businesses, and Creator as a fit for coaches, artists and public figures, so pick whichever matches how you use the account.

Can I invite people to comment for a paid programme, not a freebie?

Yes. The word can lead to a booking calendar, an enquiry form, or a page describing your programme. What matters is that the post says so. If the caption offers a free class and the message opens a checkout instead, people feel misled, and rightly.

Will people be able to tell the first message was automated?

Some will, and that is fine when the message clearly answers what they asked for. Write it as yourself, in the words you would use in the studio. On the free plan the message carries a short line saying it was sent with @chatpanda_app, which Unlimited removes.

Can one message carry both a price list and a booking link?

It can, but it usually should not. Somebody who commented for prices wants the prices. Two links in the first message split their attention and make the reply feel like a pitch. Send what they asked for, then offer the next step once they answer.

What if somebody asks for a call and never replies?

Then they were not ready, and that is a normal outcome. ChatPanda will not chase them, because it only answers people who comment or write to you first. If you want to follow up, do it as yourself, and only while the conversation is still open.
