How to Send an Instagram Booking Link by DM
A service catches someone’s attention. Their comment asks how to book. A private DM gives them the page where they can choose a time or reserve a table.

The short answer
A barber posts a fresh fade and mentions a few openings later that week. Someone
likes the result, but the shop is busy and nobody is watching the comments. The
post can say, “Comment BOOKING and we’ll DM this week’s available times.” The
person asks once, receives the page, and chooses a slot there.
Why send the booking link in a DM?
A URL typed into an Instagram caption or comment is plain text. Someone has to copy it, leave Instagram, and paste it into a browser. A link in a private DM is something they can tap.
That matters when the post has created a specific kind of interest. A person who has just watched a haircut, seen Friday’s menu, or looked through a photographer’s recent work should land on the matching booking page. Sending them to a generic bio link asks them to search again for the service that caught their attention.
The comment also keeps the request clear. They are not receiving an unexpected sales message. They asked for the next step named in the post.
How does the booking handoff work?
The post shows the service and names the word to comment. The comment asks for the booking route. ChatPanda sends the page privately.
A barber shows a haircut and asks people to comment BOOKING for this week's openings. Sam comments BOOKING. ChatPanda sends the barber's booking page in a private DM and can leave a public reply confirming that it was sent.
The optional public reply tells Sam where the link went. It does not need to sell the service again. “Sent. Check your DMs” is enough.
Send a booking page directly. Do not put it behind a follower check. Someone who has already asked to book should not have to follow the account and tap another button before they can see your available times.
Which word should people comment?
Use a word that makes sense even if someone notices it before reading the whole
caption. BOOK looks like a request for a book, so use BOOKING, RESERVATION,
or a word tied to the service instead. Uppercase only makes the examples easier
to spot; booking works like BOOKING.
| What the post shows | Word to comment | What the DM delivers |
|---|---|---|
| A barber or salon appointment | BOOKING | The page for that service or location |
| A restaurant menu or event | TABLE | The reservation page for that date or venue |
| A photographer’s recent work | SESSION | The session calendar or enquiry form |
| A class or consultation | RESERVATION | The page with available times |
If two services use different calendars, give them different words or attach each invitation to its own post. A colour appointment should not send the same page as a quick trim unless that page makes the choice obvious.
For more examples, use the Instagram comment trigger-word guide.
What should the booking DM say?
The first message should explain why it arrived and give one useful next step. A short message often works better than a service menu, a price list, and three links packed into the same DM.
| Situation | The post can say | The DM can say |
|---|---|---|
| Barber openings | “Comment BOOKING for this week’s times.” | “Here are this week’s available appointments: [link]” |
| Friday tables | “Comment TABLE for Friday’s reservation page.” | “Friday seating is available here: [link]” |
| Salon colour service | “Comment COLOUR to book a consultation.” | “Choose a colour-consultation time here: [link]” |
Use the page that gets the person closest to the appointment they asked for. If your booking tool supports a direct link to one service, staff member, location, or event, that is usually more helpful than its homepage.
Someone may reply with a real question: whether the barber works with long hair, whether the restaurant can seat a large group, or what a photographer’s session includes. Answer that question yourself in the same Instagram chat.
Who handles the actual booking?
ChatPanda connects the Instagram request to the page where booking happens. Your booking or reservation system remains responsible for the appointment.
| ChatPanda handles | Your booking system handles |
|---|---|
| Detecting the word under the chosen post or Reel | Live availability |
| Sending the private DM you wrote | Service, staff, table, or location selection |
| Delivering the booking link | Customer details and deposits |
| Leaving an optional public reply | Confirmations, reminders, changes, and cancellations |
This split keeps the setup simple. You do not need to rebuild your calendar inside Instagram. Keep the scheduling tool you already trust and use the DM to make its booking page easier to reach.
Set up the booking handoff
Start with one post and one destination that already works well on a phone. ChatPanda needs an Instagram Professional account, either Business or Creator. Then connect the account, choose the post or Reel, add the word people will comment, and write the DM with the full booking-page address.
Before you write the invitation, open the destination yourself. Check that it shows the right service or venue and that someone can understand the next step without hunting through the site. That is a check on your booking page, not on the comment-to-DM idea.

What are the limits?
A useful booking flow keeps one promise. Show the service, name the word, and send the page where the person can choose what happens next.
Common questions
Can someone complete the booking inside the Instagram DM?
The DM delivers a link they can tap. That link opens your booking or reservation page, where the person chooses a time, enters the details you need, and completes any deposit or confirmation steps. ChatPanda handles the handoff from the comment to that page, not the appointment itself.
Does this work for restaurant table reservations?
Yes. Ask people to comment a word such as TABLE or RESERVATION, then send the direct page for the meal, date, or location shown in the post. Your reservation system still controls available tables, party sizes, confirmation messages, and cancellations.
Should I make people follow me before they get the booking link?
No. A person who asks to book has already taken the action you wanted, so another step only makes the booking harder. Send booking pages directly. Save the follower check for something you deliberately reserve for followers, such as a free guide or download.
Can ChatPanda reply under the booking comment as well?
Yes. ChatPanda can leave an optional public reply under the comment, such as “Sent. Check your DMs.” That lets the person know where to look without putting the booking URL in public. The private DM still carries the tappable link.
Do I need an Instagram Business account?
You need an Instagram Professional account. Either Business or Creator works. A restaurant, salon, or barber will often use Business, while an independent service provider may use Creator, but the comment-to-DM handoff works with both account types.
